Wingmakers hit back to defeat the Hatters

AIRBUS repeated last season's pre-season friendly win over Stockport County, this time on home ground.

But they were forced to hit back from a goal down before goals from Tom Field and Andy Jones secured a victory over Neil Young's men, including former Wingmaker Glenn Rule.

Visiting keeper Danny Hurst made two good saves in the opening minutes, first at the feet of Ryan Wade in a one-on-one and then tipping over a good effort from Tony Gray.

Joe Garvin fired over the home crossbar and Ab Bell-Baggie cut in from the right before finding the side netting.

Hurst made a good save to deny Wayne Riley and then tipped over Jay Owen's goal bound 30-yarder.

Gray headed over from a Matty McGinn corner and then from a free kick, which saw County breakaway and take the lead with Sierra Leone frontman Bell-Baggie finishing in good style.

But the lead lasted just three minutes before County conceded a free-kick 30 yards out and specialist Field gave Hurst no chance with a superb curling effort to show he retains the touch which made him the club's leading scorer last season.

Karl Ledsham had the first chance for the visitors after the break while Ryan Wade went close for Airbus, before delivering a telling byline cross which didn't find a team mate.

Wade was again denied in a one-on-one after beating the offside trap and Danny Morton did well to dispossess Owen as he raced into the box.

But Airbus took the lead when Matty McGinn's cross was converted superbly as Andy Jones held off a challenge by Lamin Colley to net at the back post.

Danny Gloves drew a good save from home keeper James Coates but youth sub James Murphy went close to extending the lead only to be denied by the excellent Hurst in the County goal.
