NEW manager Andy Thomas was delighted to gain three points against Cardiff Met in his first game in charge on Sunday.
"As Andy (Preece) said in the paper a couple of weeks ago, we've had 13 players leave the club, we've had a lot of triallists in all over pre-season, so it's been tough, but I'm really pleased today," Thomas said.
"The first game of the season is always hard but first half we got the goal. They are a good team to be fair, they played really well, they are organised, I think they train four times a week, but we were organised today and I think they only had one shot in the whole game from which Ryan (Neild) made a good save but that was through our mistake really, not them opening us up.
"They put us under masssive pressure second half, but I thought our organisation, our back four was tremendous, our work rate was good and I always think at one-nil the opposing team are always going to push on and chase a goal but overall I was pleased with our defensive shape."
