DESPITE suffering two defeats in a week at the hands of Bangor City, Andy Preece is more confident than ever that Airbus UK Broughton can beat their bogey side to the runners-up spot in the Welsh Premier League.
Preece says his side's performances in the hard-fought losses, 2-0 in the league last Friday and 1-0 in the Welsh Cup before that - have given him extra belief that they can win the race for second place and automatic qualification to the Europa League.
The Wingmakers, who host fourth-placed Port Talbot Town on Saturday, have slipped below Bangor into third, although they do have a game in hand.
Wingmakers boss Preece said: "We are still in pole position, win our game in hand and we go second and a couple of points clear.
"We've still got to play Bangor at home and although we've lost against them four times this season, we've got no fear of them at all.
"We have been as good as Bangor in most of the games and at times better than them.
"We take a lot of confidence out of Friday's game. I was proud of the performance."
Preece felt the turning point of Friday's rain-soaked clash was Tom Field's 79th-minute sending off for a challenge on Chris Jones.
"I felt we totally controlled the game in midfield," Preece added. "We had a threat up front and on most other days we would have won the game."
