ANDY Preece was delighted with his side's performance as they returned to winning ways against Port Talbot on Saturday, but wasn't surprised by the victory.
"People might think we needed to bounce back after the couple of results we have had but we never doubted it after the two games we played against Bangor," Preece said.
"We feel should have won one of them and the other we were unlucky to at least get a draw.
"So we know we've been playing well and we just had to repeat that sort of performance against a really good Port Talbot side who've been on a really good run themselves.
"If they had won today they would have been level on points with us, so it was a massive game for us.
"Our play in the final third was good, how many chances did we create today and how many saves did the keeper make, it was a lot better than at Bangor.
"We had similar possession against Bangor and pretty much dominated the games, but we didn't create that many opportunities, but today we made the keeper work, scored two goals and we could have had a few more."
The Wingmakers' director of football feels the club is well-placed to gain an automatic Europa League spot at the end of the campaign.
"We've got more than a fighting chance of second place, we're in pole position with games running out and it's up to whoever to try and take it from us," he continued.
"So we've got to keep doing what we're doing and keep playing the way we have over the whole season and then we'll have a good chance."
But Preece admits the next assignment for his players away to Carmarthen Town on Saturday will be difficult.
"Carmarthen are a tough team to play against, Mark [Aizlewood] has them well-organised and he's got some good players down there.
"It's as tough a place as there is to go so we'll have to be at our best to get something there," he added.
