Wingmakers bid to end Lilywhites' jinx

FRIDAY night's Welsh Premier fixture is a chance for Airbus UK Broughton to clinch a Europa League spot for the second season running and end their jinx against Rhyl this season.

The Wingmakers are already virtually assured of at least second place in the league, but another win would remove any mathematical possibility of being overhauled.

And the Lilywhites are the only side that Airbus have failed to beat this season, winning 2-0 at Belle Vue last month and drawing their two other games.

But director of football Andy Preece says: "It's one of those things. They are a good team, it's certainly no disgrace dropping points against Rhyl.

"We need to keep winning to keep the pressure on TNS, because I do think they will drop points.

"Being full-time and with the money they can offer and the type of players they can attract, we shouldn't even be talking about it.

"They should be long gone by now and we're pinching ourselves that we've still got a chance."

Preece may hand another chance to 18-year-old Lee Emberton, who made his league debut against Newtown last Saturday.

"He was superb," said Preece. "He's the fifth academy youngster to play in the first team this season, we'll always give them the opportunity.

"How do you learn how good these young lads are if you don't give them a chance?"

Wingman Ryan Wignall is touch and go to return after picking-up a hamstring injury but Tom Field, whose midfield guile was missed against Newtown, is back from a one-match ban.
