THE Wingmakers hit rock-bottom as they slumped to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Rhyl, their fourth consecutive league defeat and the third game in a row without scoring a goal.
Manager Andrew Thomas described his side's defending as "unacceptable and shambolic" and, for the second time in a week, the final scoreline could have been far worse as the visitors twice hit the woodwork and keeper Ryan Neild saved a penalty.
After an evenly-contested opening in which both sides showed attacking intent, the Lilywhites took the lead when Alex Jones found Carl Lamb who fired home.
Minutes later, Rhyl were awarded a penalty but Neild did well to keep out the spot kick from ex-Wingmaker Toby Jones.
When Neild spilled a shot from Rob Hughes, the rebound fell to Alex Jones who failed to take advantage from the edge of the box.
Leading scorer Tony Gray appeared somewhat unfortunate to be red-carded on 22 minutes for a challenge on Hughes, who made the most of the incident to convince referee Richard Harrington.
Another ex-Airbus player, Zyaac Edwards, sent a header over the bar before Hughes hit a post just before the break only to go one better in stoppage time with an angled shot from the right to make in 2-0.
Hughes almost added a third just after half-time but his shot flew cross goal and wide of the far post but it was only minutes before his cross found Lamb, who grabbed his second of the day to put the game out of sight.
The Wingmakers' afternoon was summed-up by Ryan Wignall just past the hour, the wingman rounding keeper Owen Evans only to send his close range shot against a post with the goal at his mercy.
Tony Jones then lobbed a shot against the home crossbar as Rhyl easily kept a toothless Airbus attack at bay for the remainder of the game.
Next-up for an Airbus side lacking in confidence and often looking in disarray is a visit to The New Saints, who have a 100% record in all competitions after 19 games. It is difficult to see Thomas and his side halting that run.
