BOXING Day brought no festive joy to the Wingmakers who crashed to an eighth-consecutive defeat, this time at the hands of Flintshire derby rivals Connah's Quay.

In a game dominated by a strong first half wind, Airbus failed to capitalise before the break as they failed to test keeper Jon Danby and paid the price in the second period when they conceded three goals.

Matty McGinn returned from injury to captain the side in what proved to be a scrappy affair. Jake Hulley intercepted a slack Nomads' pass in the 13th-minute but was well-tackled by Sean Smith and, after the referee had waived play on as the visitors appealed for a free kick, Wes Baynes drove a shot wide.

Nathan Woolfe went close with a free kick just before the half hour with Hulley missing a heading chance on the stroke of half time.

With the wind abating after the interval Nomads quickly took the lead, Less Davies connecting with a Baynes cross to drive the ball home at the far post.

Woolfe hit the bar with a 20-yarder on 57 minutes but it wasn't long before the Nomads increased their lead with a low 15-yarder from Matty Williams.

The visitors were now in control and Davies added his second from a Woolfe cross as the Wingmakers failed to make any impact going forward against a well-organised defensive unit.
