The Wingmakers boss Steve O’Shaughnessy was full of praise for his side after they picked up their first victory in 14 league games.

Airbusran out 3-1 winners away to relegation rivals Carmarthen as the battle at the bottom heated up.

With a double coming from Niall Watson and another being added by Oliver Lanceley, it ended up being a comfortable victory for Airbus

“Overall a great team performance from front to back, there was a lot of heart there today. It was nice to come away with a win”.

Another positive for the Wingmakers is that another academy graduate produces an excellent performance.

Oliver Lanceley once again in the goals as he started only his second game for the club. The striker now has three goals in as many games.

Lanceley caused problems throughout the game for the Old Gold defence and got rewarding with a goal mid-way through the first half.

The youngster will now look to keep his place in the starting XI as the Wingmakers hit a crucial time in the season.

“He played well. He also played well with Niall. Two young lads up top. Lot of pace and causing them quite a few problems. Its all positive.

With Pen Y Bont picking up three points on the Friday night and extending the gap between them and Airbus to seven points, the Wingmakers knew they had to win.

Airbus face up to Pen Y Bont in the next round of JD Welsh Premier fixtures and a win would see them close the gap to just one point with just five games to go.

Although Pen Y Bont would still have a game in hand over rivals Airbus a win for the Wingmakers would put all the pressure on Bont and make the end of season an interesting finish.

O’Shaughnessy goes on to say “Its massive, three points today but we’re bottom of the league and I’ve told the team that. We need to go again next week, its not worth winning today and put in a good performance and next week we don’t turn up”.
