Wingmakers fall to late Rhyl goals
AIRBUS crashed to defeat at Belle Vue as they leaked two goals inside the last six minutes against Rhyl.
There was little hint of the drama to come in a generally uninspiring affairin which the Wingmakers had most of the possession and chances.
Although the Lillies went close in the early exchanges with Dave Forbes heading over from a corner, Ian Kearney's header flew just wide at the other end and Ryan Wade fired into the side netting.
Steve Lewis headed over for Rhyl before Tom Field nodded over the target for the visitors from a Wade cross and an Ashley Williams shot was blocked on the line.
Rhyl upped the tempo in the closing stages and Forbes clattered the inside of a post with a fierce drive which rebounded to safety.
But the respite for Airbus was brief as Forbes lost out in a challenge only for the ball to fall to substitute Danny Hughes who hit an unstoppable shot past keeper James Coates.
And, two minutes later, former Wingmaker Paul McManus sealed the win from the penalty spot to send his side up to third place.
It was a disappointing outcome for Andy Preece's men who will need to raise their game against leaders The New Saints on Saturday.
