AIRBUS UK Broughton director of football Andy Preece has again been active in the transfer market with the capture of Nantwich Town's left-sided wideman Lewis Short, who is set to sign on Saturday.

The 22-year-old played for Congleton Town before spending three months on trial at Crewe Alexandra, impressing sufficiently to be awarded a professional contract in August 2010.

Short went to Nantwich on loan for a month before another loan spell with Northwich Victoria, where he was one of Preece's charges.

He eventually made a permanent move to the Vics before signing for manager Jimmy Quinn at the Dabbers last summer.

Short was a Nantwich team-mate of midfielder Christian Smith, who signed for the Wingmakers only last week.

“He’s a player I’ve wanted to sign for a while,” Preece told the Northwich Guardian when he first signed the player.

“It’s great that he can play wide in a midfield four, as part of an attacking three and even at full back."

Wingmakers' chief operating officer Stewart Roberts sayd: "I'd like to welcome Lewis to Airbus, he is another of the fantastic Northwich side to join us.

"I'm sure his team mates will have a warm welcome for him and have spoke highly of Lewis and he is another part of the jigsaw as we look to compete in the top six.

"I must also thank Nantwich Town for their help with ensuring we secured his services."
