With European football already assured, there was an end-of-season feel to the Wingmakers' performance.

The Citizens made a bright start and tested keeper James Coates with a stinger inside the first minute.

At the other end, Steve Jones saw a header tipped over the bar by City keeper Jack Cudworth.

Sion Edwards brought another good save from Coates with a fine effort, but Jones got the ball stuck under his feet when well-placed to open the Wingmakers' account.

Glenn Rule replaced Ryan Wade at the break, with Steve Abbott coming on for Chris Budrys, but Airbus struggled to break down a stubborn City rearguard in which Cudworth dealt confidently with a succession of crosses and corners.

Sion Edwards might have done better for the visitors, firing well wide after being played-in by Davies, while sub Abbott was denied by Cudworth.

The game looked headed for a goal-less draw until the 89th-minute when the home defence allowed a cross to come in from the left and Davies rose unmarked at the back post to power a superb header into the far corner to win the game.
