THE Wingmakers have been handed another local derby in cup competitions after being drawn at home to Flint Town United in the quarter-finals of the Huws Gray Cup.

It will be the second meeting with our neighbours at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium this season, after beating the Silkmen 2-0 in the Huws Gray Alliance back in September. There will be at least two familiar faces in our oppenents' ranks with ex-Airbus duo Chris Budrys and Wayne Riley both signing in recent weeks.

While Airbus progressed to the second round on Saturday by beating Ruthin Town, there were several shocks elsewhere as the second, third and fourth-placed clubs in the league all made an early exit.

Caernarfon Town lost 2-0 away at Porthmadog, with Joe Chaplin and Cai Jones scoring the goals inside three second half minutes as the hosts celebrated their first win in the derby match for nine years. Third-placed Holywell Town also went out, losing another local derby 1-0 at home to last season's beaten finalists Flint, whose 82nd-minute goal came from Richie Foulkes.

High-flying Denbigh Town went down to a shock 4-0 defeat at bottom club Llandudno Junction. Leigh Craven scored a brace with Connor Tierney and Dean Seager also on target for the home side, who are still looking for their first league win since promotion.

Gresford Athletic won 3-1 at Caersws with the goals coming from Tom Freeman, Jack Jones and Mike Latham after Rhydian Davies had given the Bluebirds a first-half lead.

Rhyl made it through to the next round with a 2-0 away win at FC Queens Park, former Wingmaker Jordan Barrow scoring a goal in each half.

The game between Holyhead Hotspur and Guilsfield was postponed due to storm Brian.

The draw for the quarter-finals is:

  • Porthmadog v Holyhead Hotspur/Guilsfield
  • Gresford Athletic v Penrhyncoch
  • Llandudno Junction v Rhyl FC
  • Airbus UK Broughton v Flint Town United
