UNDEFEATED North Wales Women's Football League leaders Northop Hall had to withstand a strong second half fightback from Airbus before emerging as 3-2 victors.

This match was a credit to both sides where football was played how it should be played - on the floor with some great passing.

Northop started quick and forced two great saves from Sinead Crawford in the Airbus goal.

Then after 18 minutes Laura Pennington received the ball on the edge of the box, turned the defender and slotted the ball coolly past the Airbus keeper for her 20th goal of the season.

From the next attack on 19 minutes Hannah Williams picked the ball up 35 yards out and with an exquisite angled cross that split the Airbus defence found Chelsea Evans whose fierce volley gave the keeper no chance whatsoever

Airbus then grew into the game and a great run by Mari Edwards resulted in her smashing against the crossbar.

After 38 minutes Amy Davies picked the ball up in the box, turned her player slotted into the far corner to make it 3-0 at half time.

Three minutes into the second half Airbus pulled a goal back when a cross fell to Abby Williams whose deflected shot looped in over Bethan Thomas in the Northop goal.

Just two minutes later Mari Edwards was given too much room on the edge of the Northop box, turned and slotted neatly into the far corner for her 13th goal of the campaign.

The game went end to end with both teams looking to score more goals but both keepers and defence stood firm for the game to finish 3-2 to the home side.
