Preece says Ricky Evans will prove to be a hit

THE Wingmakers' director of football Andy Preece insists that Ricky Evans will prove a hit at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

The veteran midfielder made a surprise move from Flintshire rivals Gap Connah’s Quay earlier this week and will initially provide cover for suspended striker Chris Budrys.

But the experienced playmaker isn’t just settling for a place in the Airbus squad, according to Preece.

"With Budrys suspended we felt we needed either another forward and Ricky fits the bill," explained Preece to the Leader.

"Ricky is very keen to come to the club and show what he can do for one of the top teams in the league.

"Ricky is also looking at the move in the longer term rather than as a short term deal and that is great to hear."

On what Evans will bring to the Wingmakers, Preece continued: "He has always been on our radar because every time we have played against him he has caused us problems.

"He is slightly different to what Buds offers us and Ricky isn’t worried about playing against anyone, he relishes games.

"We were fortunate he was on non-contract terms at Nomads and he accepted the offer we made him straight away."
