AIRBUS were unlucky to come away with nothing from their first game back in the Welsh top flight.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, the Wingmakers produced a spirited second half performance but could only find one goal against Bala Town.

Jordan Evans went close for Airbus in the opening exchanges and Steve Tomassen sent a header fizzing past the angle. But it was the Lakesiders who took the lead when keeper Dave Roberts was adjudged to have fouled Louis Robles and Chris Venables fired home the spot kick.

The lead was doubled in first half stoppage time when, following a corner, Venables notched his second despite looking suspiciously offside.

After the break, Airbus dominated proceedings and Joe Palmer saw a powerful drive tipped just over the bar by keeper Josh Tibbets, who then did well to save from Andy Owens. The keeper could do nothing about Curtis Strong's superb curling shot on 58 minutes which saw the Wingmakers back in the contest.

Bala were under considerable pressure and Tibbetts again came to the rescue to beat away a Matty Sargent shot, but their defence held out to frustrate the home side, who deserved a point for their overall efforts and can look forward to the season with some confidence despite the result.
