AIRBUS failed to reproduce the form that had seen them dominate their recent fixtures and returned empty handed from the long trip to Bridgend.

The opening exchanges were pretty even as the sides tested each other out.  In the 14th minute a promising Airbus attack saw a fine cross by Jordan Evans elude his forwards only for Penybont to break quickly and a pinpoint cross allowed Curtis Jemmet-Hutson to fire past Dave Roberts.

Airbus almost equalised immediately when, from the restart, Andy Owens was felled just outside the box and from the free kick Kristian Platt drilled a powerful shot inches over the bar.

The game fell into stalemate for the rest of the half neither team managing to create much, though almost on the stroke of half time George Hughes forced the home keeper into a smart save with a stinging drive from the edge of the box, after more good work from Evans.

The second half saw a more purposeful Airbus and a glimpse of their recent form when, in the 58th-minute, following some great interplay, the hard working Ryan Edwards delivered a cross to the back post where a grateful Alex Darlington headed home.

Airbus now sensed victory and some flowing football had Penybont on the back foot but the Wingmakers were unable to turn the pressure into goals. Disaster struck in the 74th minute when, in almost a repeat of the first half, the breakdown of an Airbus attack resulted in a long clearance by the home defence catching out the visitors, allowing Jemmet-Hutson to again shoot past the advancing Roberts for his second of the game.

Six minutes later the hosts extended their lead when a ferocious Daniel Griffiths shot from the edge of the box flew past a hapless Roberts.

The last 10 minutes saw a welcome return for Brady McGilloway when he replaced Jake Phillips and cameo appearances for youngsters Sam McCormick and Owen Payne.

Airbus did mount one more meaningful attack in the 89th minute when a crisp Darlington pass saw Owens race beyond the home defenders, but the striker delayed his shot which was deflected for a corner by a retreating home defender.
