News from the Wingmakers

Airbus UK Broughton Football Club are happy to announce that they have agreed a deal to sign Colwyn Bay Striker Ian Sheridan for an undisclosed fee. Sheridan was last season`s Managers and Players Player of the Season at Llanelian Road  scoring more than 20 goals in the process. None more important than the goal that secured Colwyn Bay`s promotion to the Evo Stick Premier League.

Sheridan agreed personal terms this evening (Thurs 30th Dec) and has signed a 2 year contract. Sheridan has already met and trained with his new team mates this evening and subject to the completion of paperwork at FAW Head Quarters on Friday morning should be available to go straight into the Squad to face Bala Town at Maes Tegid on Sun 2nd Jan.

Sheridan is the second signing made by Craig Harrison after his capture of Eddie Hope from Ellesmere Rangers who will add strength and power to an already talented midfield, Sheridan`s pace will be another asset to Airbus firepower for the remainder of the season. Hope has also received clearance to be involved at Bala Town.

Harrison was delighted with the signing of his 2 newest players “ I am delighted to have them both on board, both players add something to the squad that we didn’t have before they arrived, hopefully they will help us drive on and improve both before and after the League Splits in February”

Airbus UK Broughton Chairman Paul McKinlay was equally delighted and excited about the new additions stating “We are all delighted the Ian and Eddie have decided to join Airbus UK Broughton, Ian is a proven goal scorer and Eddie adds strength and Quality to the Midfield area and we hope their additions can propel us into the top 6, and longer term towards Europe, Craig and Thomo have built a very good footballing side, and with the addition of Roger Preece and our additional competition for places we are hopeful that the second half of the Season will bring Success to the Airfield”

Airbus UK Broughtons Boxing Day Fixture with Bala Town is definately OFF. With a frozen solid pitch now covered in 6 inches of fresh snow there is now no chance of any festive football in Flintshire. Referee Nick Pratt visited the Airfield today (Thursday 23rd) and quickly deemed that Pitch unplayable with no chance of any reprieve prior to Boxing Day.

Indeed FAW bosses have agreed too extending the League (1st half at least) by 3 weeks with the Split now due to happen on the 5th Feburary. The League now plan to press ahead with these changes meaning the boxing day fixtures are now to be moved to the 5th of Feburary subject to All the Boxing day games falling foul of the weather.

With the League now extended the Wingmakers remaining fixtures would look something like the below.

Sun 2nd Jan - Bala Town (A)

Fri 7th Jan - Prestatyn Town (H)

Sat 15th Jan - Neath (A)

Sat 22nd Jan- Newtown (A)

Sat 29th Jan - Aberystwyth Town (A)

Sat 5th Feb - Bala Town (H)

The above fixtures are only provisional and are subject to change. FAW /Welsh Premier League will confirm or change over the coming days.

In the Meantime A MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL Airbus UK Broughton Management/Players/Officials/Supporters and the same to all followers of Welsh Premier Football in general and to all our Rival Clubs and their Supporters!!!!

Airbus UK Broughton this evening entertain Welsh Premier League Leaders Bangor City at the Airfield Ground (Kick Off 7.30)

The Wingmakers are full of confidence following Saturday`s drubbing of Haverfordwest County, a win that had been a long tim coming despite some encouraging performances, this evenings task against the Citizens is somewhat more difficult but Airbus will have nothing to lose as everyone expects a comfortable away victory, this will increase pressure on Bangor City to continue their fantastic run, but it must come to an end somewhere, and Nev Powell will be confident it will not be a crash landing at the Airfield.

Bangor will be without influential captain Jamie Brewerton by all accounts and they will be hampered further by the suspension of Goalkeeper Paul Smith who was dismissed in the weekend`s televised win at Aberystwyth Town, Peter Hoy was an able deputy at Aber an Powell may even decide to stick with his imposing figure this evening, Powell does have younger options from his reserve and youth squads should he wish to keep Hoy at his more accustomed right back slot.

All season the firepower of Jamie Reed, Alan Bull and Les Davies have blown teams away, but they are strong all over the park with Garside and Ward in the engine room and Morley likely to partner the excellent Michael Johnson at the back, with Sion Edwards, Eddie Jebb and Chris Jones also able to be utilsed out wide Bangor have options and more importantly confidence and self belief after a superb start to the inaugral Super 12. It will be interesting to see if City can hold on to Johnson and Reed come January with Clubs flocking to watch some impressive City performances thus far.

So that`s the task in front of a rejuvenated Airbus outfit, City are the Bookies Favourites but Harrison`s charges are a good footballing side at the Airfield and if the influential midfield pair of Ashley Williams and Danny Desormeaux can match Garside and Ward and the Firepower of Bangor`s front 3 can be thwarted then Bangor can expect a real run for their money. Harrison will certainley be hoping the Wingmakers can hold out for the first 20 minutes after conceding 3 goals in 12 minutes in City`s last visit to the Airfield, Airbus also conceded an early goal at Farrar Road in a 5-1 defeat earlier this season.

Some Unpreventable Security Measures have been put in place to ensure the Safety of both sets of supporters-

Full Segregation- Bangor will have usual turnstiles, bottom goal and main stand side of the ground. (including Toilets and Catering)

Car Parks- Bangor City fans will use the Left hand side Car Park on the top of the Main Drive, Everyone else will use the Right hand side

No Social Club Access

Funnelled Area to ensure Supporters enter the ground correctly

Police Presence - Inside and Outside of the Ground

Airbus UK Broughton`s trip to Mid Wales this Saturday to face Andy Cale`s Newtown at Latham Park is in Doubt. Snow Across the whole of Wales has put much of the Fixture Programme in Doubt with 3 games scheduled for this evening already cancelled. (Bala, Haverfordwest, Neath)

Newtown have informed the Wingmakers that a pitch inspection will take place this afternoon (Friday) and further news will be posted on this website once it comes through from Mid Wales..............

Match OFF!!!

Apologies for the late information on this postponement. Airbus UK Broughton were originally told that the inspection at Latham Park was at 2pm this Afternoon, However it would seem this was delayed until 6pm unbeknowing to all at Airbus Football Club. However the Pitch at Latham Park is covered in snow and the game is postponed until a date can be mutually agreed between both Clubs.

News of Tuesday`s scheduled trip to Aberystwyth Town and any agreed re arranged fixtures will be announced here once we have the information to hand.

Airbus UK Broughtons scheduled trip to Aberystwyth Towns Park Avenue on Wednesday Evening is the Subject of a 12 noon Pitch Inspection Wednesday Lunch Time.

Reports from Aber is that the Pitch is currently Frozen but the Seasiders wish to give the pitch every opportunity to thaw over the next 24 hours or so... So It would seem the game is in some doubt not suprisingly and a decision from the inspection will be reported on this site as soon as we have further information.

The Wingmakers are due to leave the Airfield at 4pm so a decision early will prevent anyone from traveling if the game is yet another victim to the elements.

MATCH OFF- FROZEN PITCH

Details of Saturday`s Home fixture will be posted on this site on Friday..............................
