BELLE Vue again proved to be an unhappy hunting ground for Airbus, who went down to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Rhyl.
In reality, the game was lost inside the first eight minutes when the Lilywhites forged a two-goal lead. Mark Connolly slotted home the first from a narrow angle and, when Wes Baynes' attempt to head the ball out for a corner was intercepted, Tom Walsh lobbed the ball over Andy Coughlin.
The Wingmakers had chances to get back into the game with Mark Jones hitting the crossbar from 18-yards and Alfons Fosu-Mensah driving the rebound wide. Leo Riley beat his man but fired just wide before Coughlin got down well to save at the feet of Alex Titchiner.
Steve Tomassen headed over the angle of bar and post from a Baynes corner and Bailey Jackson's shot was well saved by home keeper Rory Crowther, who then denied Fosu-Mensah.
Coughlin again did well to save from Walsh just before the break and, after the interval, made another save from a Connolly shot. Airbus finally got a foothold in the game in the 67th-minute when young substitute George Peers netted from Fosu-Mensah's right wing cross for his first senior goal. Jamie Brewerton's shot was cleared off the line by the Airbus defence before Stefan Edwards was sent-off for a foul in the box, but Coughlin saved the resulting penalty.
Tomassen had a chance to level but fired his shot from the edge of the box over the bar and Rhyl clinched the points deep into stoppage time when Titchiner drove into the box before firing past Coughlin.
