A DESPERATE search for defenders by manager Andy Thomas has finally borne fruit with the return to the Hollingsworth Group Stadium of Leon Clowes.

The 24-year-old, who arrives from Bangor City, spent a season on-loan with the Wingmakers from Wrexham back in season 2010/11 when he made 19 (+2) Welsh Premier appearances as a youngster.

Chester-born Clowes, who can operate at centre-half, right-back or centre midfield, made his Wrexham debut in 2012 in a 1-0 win at Newport County and also had loan spells at Welshpool and Vauxhall Motors.

He made 16 appearances for Wrexham in the 2013-14 season, scoring two goals, but injuries prevented him from featuring more often and, after being released, he joined Bangor in August 2014.

Clowes, who represented the Welsh Under-17s on four occasions, has made 82 (+2) Welsh Premier appearances, scoring twice.
