WINGMAN Ryan Wignall has completed a move to Flintshire neighbours Gap Connah's Quay.

The 27-year-0ld resisted a move to the Nomads last summer, but has now become the sixth player from the Andy Preece era to follow former assitant manager Andy Morrison to the Deeside Stadium where there are five former Wingmakers in his squad - Lewis Short, Tom Field, Jay Owen, Ian Kearney and Mike Pearson - although the latter duo have been ruled out for the remainder of the season by injuries.

A product of the Liverpool academy, won the FA Youth Cup twice with the Reds alongside two other players who have since played in the Welsh Premier - goalkeeper Dave Roberts of Llandudno and former Nomads' defender Michael Burns.

Wignall was a regular in the reserve side before being released from Anfield and, after spells with AFC Liverpool and Cammell Laird, he signed a full-time contract with Belgian side Royal Racing FC Montegnee.

Wignall also played for Wimborne Town and Burscough before joining Conwy Borough in the summer of 2013, moving to Airbus in January of the following year, where he scored 11 goals from 39 (+7) WPL appearances in a spell disrupted by injuries and suspensions.

Meanwhile, The New Saints have extended the loan deal for defender Tom Matthews to remain at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium until the end of the season.
