JAMES Murphy received the accolade of Welsh Premier League young player of the season at Saturday night's annual awards dinner at the Village St David's Hotel in Ewloe.
The 19-year-old beat off competition from Newtown's Matty Owen and Llandudno defender James Joyce to lift the award after an outstanding first season in the WPL.
Promoted form the Under-19s last summer, "Spud" went on the make 17 full and 10 substitute league appearances, scoring three goals.
Murphy, who has attracted wide-ranging interest from scouts in England and Wales, was rewarded with a new contract which he signed recently.
But there was disappointment for striker Tony Gray who was pipped to the player of the season award by Marc Williams of Llandudno, with TNS duo Aeron Edwards and Simon Spender also missing out.
