ANDY Preece hailed the 5-0 victory over Port Talbot Town and says that Airbus are well positioned in the race for a Europa League spot.

"I'm really pleased with a clean sheet and to score five goals and create a number of other opportunities," said the Wingmakers' director of football.

"I can't think of them having a shot that James Coates had to save.

"They've got some good players in their team and we were against the wind in the first half so really the hard work was done in the first half, a couple of great goals, passing and movement.

"To go two-nil up against a really strong wind gave us the impetus to go into the second half and put that performance on.

"It's so difficult when you are playing against a strong wind and we didn't really create anything but a bit of patience and a bit of quality and in the end we got the two goals, I would have been happy to come at nil-nil really with that wind.

"After the break we knew how difficult it would be for Port Talbot to even get out of their own half, it's so tough.

"We had to step the tempo up, make sure we didn't ease off because they are a dangerous team with some quality players who can score goals like Rose and Bowen.

"But we marshalled them really well, kept them away from Coates, sometimes we let ourselves down in the final third but today there were some good finishes and some good through balls and a great result for us."

The win lifted Airbus into third place and Preece added: "Obviously the big result was last week to keep us in the hunt - we could have been eight points away but now, with Bala drawing, it's only a couple of points.

"It's really tight, I thought it would go to the wire, but we're bang in there now."
