Ryan Edwards

AIRBUS UK Broughton Football Club have announced that Welsh U23 semi-pro international and the club's longest serving player Ryan Edwards has agreed a deal to terminate his contract after a six year stint and over 200 senior appearances.

Edwards has been a long standing member of the Airbus Squad since joining under Gareth Owen's stewardship of the club and furthermore as a key figure during the time Craig Harrison was in charge of the Wingmakers.

But, despite featuring heavily under new director of football Andy Preece since his arrival in January - and picking up numerous awards last season, Edwards feels his chance will be limited in the new squad taking shape at the Hollingsworth Group International Airfield.

Airbus Chief Operating Officer Stewart Roberts said: "A number of Clubs have shown an interest in Ryan recently and, despite us wishing to retain his services and hoping that he would fight for his place in the new look squad, we also have to acknowledge his desire to leave after six years of fantastic service.

"Ryan understandably wants to play regular football and Andy Preece will not guarantee anyone that luxury, so it was in the best interests for Ryan and the club to reach an amicable agreement so that he could sort his future out sooner rather than later.

"We wish Ryan well for the future, he has entertained many people at Airbus and the club will gladly receive Ryan and his family at anytime at the Airfield."
