THE red-hot Wingmakers closed the gap on the top three with yet another emphatic victory on Saturday.

Andy Preece’s fourth-placed side simply blew basement boys Afan Lido away and have now scored 22 goals in their last five league games.

"We played really, really well," director of football Andy Preece told the Daily Post.

"We were 4-0 up at half-time and although our standards dropped a little bit in the second half, we still created numerous opportunities.

"It’s always a difficult place to go, they’ve had some good results this season, and our record over the years in south Wales has been poor.

"So to go there and win so convincingly was very pleasing."

The game was as good as over by the break.

Full debutant Jordon Johnson – in for suspended key man Ryan Wade – broke the deadlock in the eighth minute and added his second on the stroke of half-time.

Top scorer Steve Abbott and left-back Jack Lewis were also on target for the Wingmakers in a one-sided first half.

Chris Hartland reduced the deficit for Lido shortly after the restart but it was Airbus who completed the scoring late on when substitute Mike Hayes netted his first goal of the campaign.
