ANDY Preece was left to rue his side's inability to take chances as they went down 3-2 at home to Cefn Druids.

"It was similar to a lot of games we've played this year, we create a number of opportunities and good play, good situations in the final third, but we don't trouble the keeper or we miss chances," Preece reflected.

"At some point it was going to hurt us and when somebody hits a worldy like the lad did or we make a mistake we are going to get punished.

"Ultimately it's going to cost you, we can't expect to keep clean sheets every week, we've got to start putting some of these chances away and these good periods that we have in games and put teams to bed.

"We didn't do that and they've got good enough individuals to punish you when they get the chance.

"They hit us on the counter, we know that's going to happen a lot to us but we were pretty comfortable in the game, I didn't have any worries really.

"For them to score three goals today and for us to be more comfortable than we've been in a lot of games where we've kept clean sheets, it was just one of those days.

"But it's been coming because we haven't been taking our chances."

After Druids had taken a 2-1 lead, Andy Jones had a quick chance to level the scores again but sent his diving header against a post and Preece went on: "We are getting chances and at crucial times you need to take those and we didn't do that today and we've only got ourselves to blame.

"There are no excuses, well played to Cefn Druids, they've come with a game plan and they'll go away and say it worked.

"From our point of view, we know what we need to improve on - we've had a good start and not really played anywhere near as well as we can so that's a positive. There's a lot more to come from us."
