NANTPORTH has become a happy hunting ground for Airbus UK Broughton in recent times and the Wingmakers returned from the venue with three points after a 2-1 win on Friday night.

Chris Budrys tested home keeper Jack Cudworth before Tom Field, returning to the side from a three-match suspension, gave the Wingmakers the perfect start, latching-on to a weak clearance before volleying home a shot from the edge of the box which took a deflection to find the back of the net in the fifth-minute.

City struggled to find any momentum until midway through the first half when Les Davies found Sion Edwards, whose cross from the left was only half-cleared to Chris Roberts, who fired his shot just off-target.

The Citizens levelled in first-half stoppage time when Coates failed to claim the ball from a Chris Jones corner leaving Les Davies to head home from six yards out.

Undaunted by the set back, the Wingmakers took the initiative after the break with Budrys heading just wide, but Airbus were forced to defend a free-kick which hit the wall. The ball rebounded to Rob Jones who tested Coates with a dipping half volley.

Coates made a good save to deny Sion Edwards from a Roberts headed flick-on but the match was twice turned on its head just past the hour mark.

Ryan Wignall was first sent-off for an off-the-ball incident spotted by a referee's assistant involving City's Rob Jones, but the home numerical advantage lasted only three minutes before ex-Airbus defender Leon Clowes was also dismissed for denying a goal scoring opportunity to Andy Jones who had just come off the bench.

Matty McGinn stepped-up to confidently convert the resulting penalty and, with both sides now down to 10-men, City struggled to create any openings as they searched for an equaliser.

A late corner from Joe Culshaw was turned wide of goal by Iolo Hughes and Coates easily fielded a goalbound header from Davies as the Wingmakers played out five minutes of added time to secure the win.
