KEVIN Monteiro's performances since joining Airbus have earned the Frenchman a one-year deal.

The 22-year old arrived in January on non-contract terms alongside Paulo Mendes and Liam Blake.

The former FC United of Manchester midfielder has impressed with his displays, scoring a screamer to break the deadlock in a victory at Newtown in March and also grabbing a goal in the 7-0 Welsh Cup semi-final victory over Port Talbot.

Sidelined by an injury he picked-up in that game, Kevin returned to the first team ranks for Saturday's 2-1 Europa League play-off victory over Newtown.

So far, Kevin has started in four Welsh Premier games, plus one as substitute and has made three Welsh Cup appearances as well as one in the play-offs.

"Kevin's signing is a great coup for us," says director of football Andy Preece. "Considering the clubs that were after him and money being offered he is a breath of fresh air.

"Money is not his motivation at this stage the opportunity to further is career is key, the rest will come.

"His performances have been incredible in the second half of the season and if he can keep this level of consistency he will go on to play in the Football League very soon.

"You have to take gambles both as a player and a manager, we've both done that. Kevin has played for expenses and now got his reward and I knew little about him but gave him a chance, now we have a top class player."

Monteiro, who was born in Lyon, came to the UK 12 months ago to further his career and says: "I'm glad to sign with Airbus today. I want to thank Mr Preece for the opportunity he has given me to continue to play in this league and I will do my best to show him that he made the right choice.

"Let's win this game on Saturday for the fans first and go to the Europa league and reach our goal!"
