TONY Gray and James Murphy have both been nominated for Welsh Premier League player awards.

Gray is one of four nominees for the WPL's player of the season accolade after narrowly missing out on the Golden Boot with 18 goals from his 29 league apparances.

Already named in the WPL managers' team of the season, the 32-year-old striker faces opposition in the vote from Marc Williams of Llandudno and The New Saints' duo Simon Spender and Aeron Edwards.

Murphy is one of three nominees for the young player of the season award along with Llandudno defender James Joyce and Newtown midfielder Matty Owen.

Murphy, 19, broke into the first team ranks this season from the Under-19s and has been hugely impressive, making 17 full and 10 substitute appearances in the league and scoring three goals, as well as providing many assists for his team-mates.

The winners will be announced at the league's annual dinner in June.
