Airbus UK Broughton secured a Europa Play Off Place with a more than expected comfortable victory at Afan Lido at the weekend with 2 goals from Jon Bathurst. Airbus needed just a point at the Marstons Stadium to secure their spot but must now wait until the outcome of Neath`s appeal for a UEFA Licence is heard until their opponents are known.
Should Neath gain their Licence then the Wingmakers will travel to Neil Gibson`s Prestatyn Town however if Neath fail then their play off place is likely to go to the 8th place team which is Aberystwyth Town who finished in 8th place after a defeat of Newtown on the Final Day with Port Talbot also losing to Carmarthen Town.
The Play Offs have come to be an exciting period to the end of the Season but are much criticised for the timings of them, with all English Non League Play Offs due to be finished in early May the Welsh Premier Play Offs go on right up to the 19th May almost a full month from the final day of the regular season.
Teams in the Play Offs will be
Neath (Replaced by Aber if failing Licence)
Airbus UK Broughton
with the highest ranked team holding home advantage in each game.
Meanwhile Andy Preece has halted his re building programme to begin his Pro Licence over in Switzerland this week and will hold discussions with the remaining current players upon his return.
Airbus UK Broughton Development Squad moved within One Point of the inaugral Welsh Premier League Reserve Title yesterday after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Aberystwyth Town, Steve Benyon and Lee Starkeys team have now won 8 and lost 1 of their games with just Bala Town to visit next weekend.
