AIRBUS UK Broughton produced an improvement on Saturday's disappointing display against Colwyn Bay in a 2-1 behind closed doors defeat to Vauxhall Motors at The Airfield on Tuesday night.
The Wingmakers led 1-0 at half-time, but fell to two late goals, including a soft penalty awarded against Jack Lewis.
In an evenly-contested first-half, keeper Ben Chapman produced a superb save to keep out a Dave Thompson header, but Airbus took the lead when the visiting keeper could only parry a Mike Hayes header and the ball was driven home from 12 yards by a trialist.
Wayne Riley missed a great chance to double the advantage just after the break while Chris Budrys was just wide of the far post with a good effort from Ryan Wade's right-wing cross.
Lewis was adjuged to have fouled 10 minutes from time and Mike Burns sent sub keeper Aaron Morrison the wrong way from the spot. And, minutes later, Simon Thelwell tapped-in at the far post from a left wing delivery to end the Wingmakers' pre-season preparations with a defeat.
The action begins in earnest on Friday when Airbus travel to Park Hall to face reigning champions The New Saints (7.45pm).
