A LARGE crowd watched Wrexham triumph 2-0 over the Wingmakers in the midday sun at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

The visitors fielded their senior side in the first half and scored after 11 minutes when Nicky Deverdics played a ball over the Airbis defence for Mike Fondop to tuck the ball past Dave Roberts.

Kevin Roberts was just wide with another effort for Wrexham who then doubled their lead from a corner when Fondop’s initial effort was parried by Roberts who could not save the follow up from Shaun Pearson.

The first real opening for Airbus came five minutes before the break when a Curtis Strong free kick was headed goalwards by a trialist and rattled the bar.

Mostly academy players came on for the visitors after the break and Bobby Beaumont headed against a post while Roberts palmed over a fierce shot from Pilkington.

But only a last ditch tackle from Ryan Williams denied Asa Hamilton from shooting when well-placed although it was Wrexham who nearly had the last word in the 89th-minute when sub Dylan Allshorn had a great shot saved by Roberts.
