The Wingmakers were left to rue early mistakes as Connah's Quay Nomads won 0-3 in our third pre season friendly at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

A trio of first half goals by the 2019-20 Cymru Premier champions was enough to secure victory although Steve O’Shaughnessy’s men produced a valiant performance in the second half.

Both ourselves and the Nomads came into the game off the backs of wins against Cefn Druids, winning 0-4 and 0-2 respectively. But Andy Morrison's side were boosted by their new singing Neil Danns making his first start after his arrival to Deeside earlier in the day.

The game started with the Cymru Premier side dominating, and on the third minute, a mistake at the back was capitalised on by Callum Morris who found the cross to Michael Wilde who nodded the ball home into the empty net.

Minutes later, a communication error between the defence saw a pass to fall into the line of Jamie Insall, allowing the Nomads number 10 to slot the ball into the back of net comfortably.

In the eighth minute Joe palmer went down injured and was replaced by George Peers.

On the 15th Minute, Airbus started to find a foothold in the game, with Nathan Brown making a break forward. After a bit of neat passing between the Wingmakers Brown took the shot but Oliver Byrne in the Nomads goal comfortably made the save.

The champions were pressing high up the pitch, and were able find themselves on goal with Wilde but the shot was saved well.

The game began to stick in the middle third, with neither side really being able to breach the defences.

The ball was in the back of the net for a third time in the 34th minute, as the Nomads burst down the wing and crossed to Wilde at the backpost who was offside to the relief of Airbus' backline.

However five minutes later, The Nomads did make it three. A ball whipped in found Danns in the box and the champions' new signing headed home.

Steve O’Shaughnessy made one change at half time bringing on Brandon Burrows for Brown.

The Nomads started the second half in a similar fashion to the first, but the Davies cross had too much weight on it for Wilde.

10 minutes later, and Nomads continued to push, Danns whipped a cross in but the ball was too much for Insall rushing in at the backpost.

The Wingmakers looked to have found a way into the game, a nice passage of play allowed Payne to get in around the back, but his cross was unable to find an Airbus player in the box.

Airbus went on the attack again, with Payne finding the ball to Peers, but the academy graduate couldn’t keep his chip on the right side of the crossbar.

The game then went quiet, until the 86th minute when Davies had a shot from range that was saved well.

The Wingmakers now face an anxious wait for the decision on whether or not their reduced Cyrmu North season can commence on the 26th March.
