Airbus forward Jake Eyre has revealed he is convinced the Wingmakers can return to the JD Cymru Premier at the first attempt.

The Welshman was one of Steve O’Shaughnessy’s first signings of the Summer when he made the switch from Gresford Athletic in July.

Despite weeks of training under his belt with his new teammates, the new number 10 is eager to begin playing matches for the club.

“I can’t wait to to get started now,” Eyre said.

“Obviously, we’re just waiting to get the go ahead to play some friendlies, and then waiting for the season to start.”

Eyre has invaluable experience of scoring goals in the Cymru North, netting an impressive 19 times last term in Gresford colours.

Returning to the Airfield for a second spell, the striker believes his pedigree in the division will prove important and contribute to the team achieving results on the pitch.

“It can definitely help (experience). When I met up with Shosh (Steve O’Shaughnessy) to come here, he just wanted a lot of lads who have played in this league. He wanted to get a team together to push to get back into the Welsh Prem.

“I always try and score as many as I can. I’ve always managed to get a few in the last few years. Coming to Airbus, I want to try and add to that and help the team win and push on to get three points every week.

“Until we play games it’s hard to judge things from training but I’m confident. I think we’ve got a good core of lads here and once we get playing, hopefully we can win a lot of games.”
