CARMARTHEN got the draw they came for at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium but it was a smash and grab raid as Airbus contributed to their own fate with missed chances and a fatal defensive error.

The Wingmakers looked comfortable on their slender lead and had rarely been troubled at the back before, in the 70th-minute, Paul Connolly dwelt on the ball and was dispossessed by Declan Carroll, who had no difficult steering his shot past Ryan Neild to level the scores.

Earlier, Airbus had dominated the somewhat lack-lustre proceedings with James Murphy seeing a shot deflected just over the bar by a defender and Ryan Edwards having a good effort blocked.

Ashley Williams drew a good save from Old Gold keeper Lee Idzi before Jamie Menagh fired a shot well over the target.

At the other end, in a rare moment of Carmarthen ambition, a Liam Thomas shot was easily saved by Neild before Gray went close with a 20-yard snap shot.

The deadlock was broken just before half-time when Gray fed Menagh, who made no mistake from close range.

Edwards was just unable to convert Murphy's cross on the restart before Menagh broke clear past Craig Hanford from his own half but failed to find the end product to beat Idzi. A Gray shot was then cleared to safety by Jordan Knott before a first-time effort from the Airbus striker flew over the bar.

Kyle Bassett fired wide for the visitors but Menagh should have put the result beyond doubt in a one-on-one with Idzi, which saw the keeper come out on top.

The miss proved costly as, within a minute, Connolly's error allowed the visitors to level. A Jake Hulley cross just eluded Gray as Airbus searched for a winner, but the visitors survived some intense pressure in the closing minutes to return to south Wales with a point.
