AN inability to convert chances again cost the Wingmakers dear as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cefn Druids at The Rock in Sunday's live TV game.

An out-and-out goal scorer has to be top of director of football Andy Preece's Christmas shopping list as Airbus were effectively mugged by their hosts after dominating for much of the contest.

In a bright start, Airbus earned a string of corners which yielded nothing, despite having the home defence in disarray on a couple of occasions.

A Glenn Rule shot was deflected narrowly wide and the same player missed the target with a header from a Matty McGinn flag kick.

Ellis Healing also headed over from a McGinn cross, but the Druids then spurned a gilt-edged opportunity when Alan Bull’s close range header went over the bar following a Ryan Edwards corner.

Healing was just wide with a 22-yard free kick after Chris Rimmer had fouled McGinn, but Druids threatened again when Derek Taylor combined with Tom Donegan, who was just foiled by James Coates.

Airbus eventually took the lead five minutes after half time when a superb crossfield ball from Rule eluded Jonathan Breeze and found Healing, who kept his cool in a one-on-one with Glover to curl a shot into the far corner for his first Welsh Premier goal.

Chris Budrys had a header well-saved by Glover but Tom Field should have done better when he also found himself with only the keeper to beat, only to curl his shot wide.

The Druids should have equalised when substitute Karl Noon somehow missed the target after a long clearance from Glover had allowed him to get behind the Airbus rearguard.

But the ex-Bangor striker soon made amends when he turned Andy Jones and crossed for Healey to head home from close range to level.

Glover's legs came to the rescue to keep out Rule's angled drive but it was the hosts who had the best chances as they pushed forward in search of a winner.

Healey played in Noon, who again put his shot wide, but it took a superb one-handed save from Coates to keep out a close range Edwards' header in stoppage time.
