ANOTHER win and another clean sheet saw Airbus advance safely into the second round of the Welsh Cup with a 4-0 victory over Penycae at the Riverside.

But the Welsh National League hosts made the Wingmakers work hard to establish their superiority in the first half with goalkeeper Matt Griffiths in particular proving a redoubtable opponent.

The stopper made a good early save to keep out Matty McGinn's free kick and then denied Ryan Edwards, while Nathan Quirk headed over from a Leo Riley cross.

The deadlock was finally broken when Edwards played in Joe Chaplin who took his chance well to send Airbus into the break with a valuable lead.

Soon after the interval, Riley produced a spectacular effort from 22-yards to defeat Griffiths again and, from then on, Airbus were in control. Kristian Platt added a third following a corner with a shot that took a deflection off a defender and a long ball over the top then found Chaplin who lobbed his shot over the advancing Griffiths and into the net.

Sub Asa Hamilton drew another excellent save from Griffiths and Steve Tomassen saw his header blocked with Joe Palmer firing the rebound over the bar.

Below: Joe Chaplin scores his second goal of the afternoon.
