AIRBUS banked three points from their first outing of the new Huws Gray Alliance season, but victory at Prestatyn was overshadowed by a serious injury to Ashley Williams.

With just six minutes on the clock, Prestatyn's James Hay was red-carded for an over the top challenge that left Williams writhing in agony with a broken leg and there was a delay of more than an hour as the players waiting for the midfielder to receive medical treatment from an ambulance crew.

After consultations with the referee, both sides agreed to continue and Kieran Ellis immediatety went close for the hosts with a shot that was clocked by the legs of keeper Dave Roberts.

But, at the other end, Asa Hamilton saw his header tipped over the bar by Ryan Woods before the Wingmakers took the lead when Kristian Platt fired a low free-kick past the keeper from just outside the box.

Platt went close with another set piece which was parried by Woods, who was forced to leave the field with an injury to be replaced by midfielder Ciran Jones.

The deputy gloveman proved more than capable as Airbus dominated the second period, making a good stop with his legs to deny Ryan Edwards and then keeping out a powerful Hamilton drive.

Despite continued pressure, Airbus were finding it hard to find a decisive second goal until, 12 minutes from time, a right wing cross found sub James Hooper who was left with a simple chance one-on-one with Jones to settle the contest.
