THERE were plenty of positives from the Wingmakers' performance despite a 4-3 defeat at the hands of FC United in front of 832 supporters at the impressive Broadhurst Park Stadium.
Airbus made a bright start and forged an early lead when Kristian Platt drove a low free kick into the net from just outside the box. But the hosts recovered from a hesitant start to take the lead with goals from Tom Greaves and then Stephen O'Halloran and retained their lead to the break after Asa Hamilton had hammered a shot against a post.
Despite being under the cosh for much of the first half, the Wingmakers started to dominate after the break and were soon rewarded when Lewis Buckley slipped his marker down the left before driving a low shot under keeper Josh Ollerenshaw.
It got better in the 70th minute when Joe Palmer defeated Ollerenshaw from 25 yards with a shot into the corner but, after a raft of substitutions from both sides, it was the hosts who got back on top.
When a trialist lost the ball down the righr, the ball was quickly ferried into the box for Elliott Simoes to level the scores and, six minutes later, Kurt Willoughby netted the decisive goal.
