AIRBUS let a three-goal lead slip through their fingers as they were forced to settle for a draw with Huws Gray Alliance leaders Caernarfon Town at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.
This was the proverbial game of two halves as the Wingmakers totally dominated the first period and raced into a three-nil lead within the first 21 minutes. Had a Wes Baynes piledrive found the net instead of the crossbar, the game would have been all-over but, instead, it was the Canaries who were dominant after the break and scored three times inside the final half hour to secure a point.
Alfons Fosu-Mensah had already gone close with a 20 yarder before a catastrophic clearance from visiting keeper Alex Ramsay rebounded off Leo Riley and into the back of the net after just four minutes.
Kristian Platt tested Ramsay with a 22-yard free-kick and Fosu-Mensah was narrowly wide from further out before the lead was doubled when Ramsay saved Platt's header from a free-kick and Steve Tomassen hammered home the rebound from outside the box.
Fosu-Mensah then scored a superb individual goal, cutting in from the right and tracking across the edge of the area before defeating Ramsay again.
In the second half, Airbus paid the price for sitting back as they were surrendered the midfield and were almost non-existent going forward. Andy Coughlin made a good tip over save following a corner and the visitors hit the bar before pulling a goal back on 63 minutes when Gareth Edwards scored from the rebound after Coughlin had saved.
Two minutes later the arrears were reduced further by Danny Brookwell who was presented with a simple chance at the far post after a defensive error by Airbus. Nathan Craig was sent-off in the 83rd-minute for complaining that Airbus had not retreated at a set-piece, from which Jay Gibbs drove the ball low through a crowded box and into the bottom corner.
Riley was just inches away from a winner with a shot that went wide but, on the balance of play, a draw was a fair outcome to an entertaining contest.
