AIRBUS flew to the top of the Huws Gray Alliance as they leap-frogged previously-unbeaten league leaders Guilsfield with a 3-0 win at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.
The win was thoroughly-deserved for Andy Thomas's men, taking the spoils with a brace from Alfons Fosu-Mensah - who took his season's goal tally to five - and John Davies.
Although Airbus had a strong end-to-end wind at their backs in the first half, it was the visitors who had the best of the early chances until the Wingmakers started to get the ball down on the deck and play some passing football. Fosu-Mensah headed over from a Wes Baynes corner and Mark Jones was just wide with a good shot from a Baynes cross.
But a touch of magic from Fosu-Mensah broke the deadlock in the 26th-minute as the frontman ran forward before turning to fire a superb shot between two defenders and into the far corner.
The lead was doubled on 39 minutes when Davies rose highest to meet a Baynes corner and back-head past a surprised Andy Wycherley in the Guilsfield goal. Three minutes later, Fosu-Mensah headed home from another Baynes flag kick and the Dutchman went close to a hat-trick on the stroke of half time with a hooked shot that hit the ground before bouncing over the bar.
The villagers had chances after the break with Andy Coughlin in fine form between the sticks, but it was Airbus who carried the greater threat as Davies headed over from a Baynes free-kick and sub Luke Busumbru made an immediate impact, laying the ball off for Fosu-Mensah to test Wycherley.
Jones hit an 18-yarder just over the crossbar and Fosu-Mensah was in the thick of the action again, firing into the side netting as Airbus ran out comfortable victors.
