The
Secretary's Scribe for the Llanelli home game
Good
evening to one and all and especially to our visitors Llanelli AFC who have
kindly agreed to this midweek fixture. It has to be a first from a South/West
Wales club here on a Tuesday.
This game was originally scheduled for the
Saturday before Christmas before the start of the very inclement weather we had.
They also arrive here as league leaders following their 2-1 victory at Newtown
last Saturday.
Our
victory was most welcome on Saturday against Aberystwyth Town, our first for 10
weeks and in so completing the double over them. It shows how far the team has
progressed over the years that we would have been happy to take a point from
both games in previous encounters. Our performances have been better than our
league position shows and now we go into games having respect for our opponents,
but fearing no one.
I would
like to thanks the ground staff for preparing an excellent surface on Saturday
during these very trying times weather wise.
Tonight we
will be missing Danny Desormeaux through suspension and I forgot the relay to
everyone that against Rhyl was his 200th Welsh Premier League
appearance. At this evening’s game Ryan Edwards and Ashley Williams are both
being awarded their Welsh semi professional cap for season 2009/2010 from Mr Ken
Hughes FAW Board member and Secretary of the NEWFA. Congratulations.
As you may
have seen from the various websites and press we have been awarded two high
profile games here at the Airfield and I would like to thank all those who have
worked hard behind the scenes to make this possible. We have the first Wales
Women’s International to be played in Flintshire on Wednesday the 31st
of March with a 7pm KO. Admission will be free. Then, although yet to be
officially confirmed though I have had it on good authority we will be holding
the Loosemores League Cup Final here on Easter Sunday the 4th of
April between Rhyl and the New Saints kicking off at 2.30pm. Further details to
follow.
This
coming Friday the 12th we travel to Welshpool Town KO 7.30pm. Anybody
wishing to travel with us come and see me at tonight’s game. Then the following
Friday the 19th we are at home to Prestatyn Town again 7.30pm KO.
Enjoy the
game and safely journey home.
