Prestatyn Town 2-2 Airbus UK Broughton
(September 25th 2009)
The Bus were coasting by
half time but once referee Andy Harms had remembered he hates Airbus and
booked the influential Rhys Roberts twice in quick succession the game turned
on its head. The Blues comfortably took a 2-0
lead, despite Prestatyn's constant whingeing and a fair amount of niggle.
Giovanni
Feliciello finally got his free kick range right to fire in the
opener after 8'. Paul
McManus sent in his own rangefinder on 37' that flashed
across the goal from outside the area on the right. It was just a practise
effort, though, as a minute later he scored from an identical position, this
time the ball curling gracefully over into the back of the net. No worries at
half time, then and the points seemingly safely on their way back to
Broughton. The second half was a different
story but not before James McIntosh had picked up a loose
ball on the edge of the box, unfortunately unable to keep his rasper
down. Rhys got his first booking for what just seemed an energetic tackle in a
toughly fought game anyway, no doubt influenced by the Seasiders' shouts,
somewhat two-faced considering their own assaults.
Airbus didn't help
themselves by then conceding an awful goal, Steve
Rogers getting to a gentle lob played inside the area, with no
Wingmaker remotely interested in clearing up at any stage, to shoot
home. The home side, boosted by their luck, upped their ugly up-and-under game
and the pressure began to swing the other way, helped by Rhys getting his
marching orders for another nothing challenge. Still Airbus
could have wrapped it up, Marc
Lloyd-Williams flicking the ball to Matty Cook but he didn't keep his
head when composure was needed& crashed the ball over. Airbus, severely
weakened at the back, struggled to cope with the aerial bombardment. They
cleared off the line in a moment of frantic defending but then left Paul
O'Neill with a free header in front of goal for the equaliser. By now
it was panicky, backs-to- the-wall stuff but Jiws very nearly grabbed the
points back, turning his man to flash over Dunt but just onto the top of
the net. Prestatyn very nearly got all three at the death, Kristian
Rogers desperately scooping off the line.
