Connah's Quay Academy do the treble over Airbus

GAP Connah’s Quay Academy sides entertained Airbus UK Broughton in a triple header and went unbeaten against their Flintshire rivals.

Result of the day went to the Nomads’ Under 12's who enjoyed a 7-2 victory.

It took just two minutes for hat-trick hero Liam Smith to head unbeaten Nomads in front. Airbus levelled soon after but Smith struck before the break and completed his hat-trick soon after the turnaround.

Tom Ash then made it four, sub Lewis Harris added a fifth and Joel Hampson chipped in with a brace.

Aled Reece nearly gave the U16s a lead halfway through the first period, but his effort struck the bar as both sides entered half-time goalless.

The tireless Wingmakers broke the deadlock in the second half but Nomads were quickly back on level terms when a long-range Jordan Beck effort was fumbled by the keeper.

The game was then brought to a premature end on 70 minutes following injury to an Airbus player.

Nomads’ U14s shared the spoils with Airbus in a scrappy affair.

The hosts enjoyed a dream start after just five minutes when the referee spotted a push in the area following a Connah’s Quay corner, and Hayden Hughes converted from the spot.

But two minutes after falling behind, Airbus were level when ex-Nomads academy player Josh Rimmer struck.

Both teams then had chances to win the game but failed to find the back of the net again in a 1-1 draw.

Jiws scoops player of the month award

Airbus UK Broughton striker Marc Lloyd Williams has capped a tremendous first six weeks with the Wingmakers by gaining the first Principality Welsh Premier League Player of the Month Award of the Season.

The League's greatest ever scorer has bagged goals everywhere he has played in his illustrious League career, and that has continued as the Wingmaker has got off to a flyer at the Airfield. He joined the club from Porthmadog in July 2009 and netted both goals on debut in a 2-2 draw at Llanelli. He then scored against former clubs Rhyl and TNS in his next two League games and scored the second in the 3-1 home win over Haverfordwest County. His predatory strike in injury time in his sides' 3-0 win at Aberystwyth Town in his next game and the solitary effort in their 2-1 defeat against Welshpool the following week, meant that 'Jiws' had scored seven goals in his first six League matches of the season and for that is a deserved winner of the Principality Award.

Mark Roberts, Principality Building Society's Regional Sales Manger for North Wales commented, "Some of the North Wales based teams in the Principality Welsh Premier League have had a great start to the season. With Rhyl currently heading up the league table, it is no surprise that Greg Strong has been named Manager of the Month, especially when you consider that this is the first time he has been in charge as a manager. Player of the Month and goal dynamo Marc Lloyd Williams of Airbus UK heads up the top scorers list and is another deserving winner of our monthly award. We wish both teams a great season and look forward to seeing more of these awards head to North Wales."#
