Airbus UK Broughton 3-0 Caersws (March 6 2010)

Airbus comfortably dispatched a fairly poor Caersws side with clinical efficiency.

They were in no mood to let The Bluebirds in with a sniff of a third successive victory and set about them from the start, giving them no time to settle. There were two early close shaves for the Caersws goal and the pressure steadily mounted, the defences creaking ominously. It told after a quarter of an hour, Jamie Smith wandering into the area with the ball at his feet, touching it gently in off the far post. Ryan Edwards, however, then had to clear away a dangerous in-swinging low cross and for a little while there was a bit of pressure on the Airbus goal but things soon settled down and as half time approached the game had gone a bit stale with The 'Bus in control and Caersws unable to mount anything serious. The inevitable second goal arrived on the stroke of half time. Carl Owen misdirected a header and there was Smudger Smith again to direct the loose ball on target & in.

The second half was one way traffic and everyone anticipated the long-awaited first Airbus hat-trick in the Premier League but Craig Harrison decided to make history wait a little longer by taking Smith off ten minutes in to give Marc Lloyd-Williams a chance to try and discover some of his old fire. In the meantime James McIntosh  forced a good leg save from Dave Jones in the first attack, Danny Desormeaux belted over from a good position and Carl Owen was foiled in his attempted chip by a smart backward dive by the 'keeper. Number three was preceded by Caersws' only other chance of the game, Gio heading off the line without too much trouble from a clever flicked header that beat Rogers. The next goal was a smart one, A Rhys Roberts header on, Dessie a short cross back and Mark Allen there on the six yard box to purposefully steer in. It could easily  have been four as Airbus continued their patient assault. Jack Abraham teed up a distance shot from a wayward clearance, well saved at the foot of the post; a nice set of 1-2s led to Dessie pulling his shot an inch past the post and finally a Macca diving header glanced wide.
