Porthmadog 3-4 Airbus UK Broughton - Jan 24th

PHIL Molyneux was the hero as the Wingmakers twice came from behind on Saturday to record their first ever Welsh Premier League win at The Traeth.

The ever-improving Broughton outfit had never won in their previous four visits to one of the best pitches in the top flight.

And that record seemed set to be extended after nemesis Marc Lloyd Williams completed his hat-trick just past the hour mark to restore Porthmadog’s two-goal advantage.

But, after Giovanni Feliciello reduced the deficit, Phil Molyneux notched a quick-fire double to see his side to a well-deserved victory which lifts them up to eighth.

An afternoon of great drama began in the 24th minute when Lloyd Williams was left unmarked to head in Marcus Orlik’s cross.

Airbus, having gone close through McIntosh and Feliciello, were stunned but would have hit back immediately had Dave Vickers not made a fine save from McIntosh.

But it was the hosts who struck next on the stroke of half-time thanks to a fantastic piece of quick thinking by the predatory Lloyd Williams, who took advantage of a mix up on the halfway line to chip Phil Palethorpe from fully 45 yards.

The visitors reduced the deficit 13 minutes after the break when Ashley Williams rifled in after Vickers’ punched clearance fell to the outstanding midfielder 20 yards from goal.

Vickers then denied McIntosh and Molyneux before Lloyd Williams, with his 15th league goal against the Wingmakers in just 10 games, netted another far-post header in the 63rd minute.

But four minutes later Feliciello stuck a 20-yard free kick into the bottom corner and 11 minutes after that Molyneux set off on a stunning solo run which he topped off with a fantastic finish.

As it had been for the whole of the second half, it was all-Airbus, so it came as no surprise when Molyneux settled an enthralling contest five from time minutes with a speculative 25-yard effort which took a wicked deflection and flew in.

Danny Desormeaux nearly made it five when his lob hit the bar before Port’s misery was complete when Steve Kehoe was sent off after collecting his second yellow card.

STAR MAN: Phil Molyneux.

AIRBUS: Palethorpe, Edwards, Feliciello, Woodward, Allen, Williams, Cook (Cadwallader 81), Desormeaux, Molyneux, McIntosh (Sudlow 87), Stewart (Lovell 89). Sub: Rowlands.

GOALS: Williams 58, Feliciello 67, Molyneux 78, 85.
