Airbus UK Broughton 1-2 Northwich Victoria (July 29th)
A stiff test for the
blues in a not-so-friendly friendly against Blue Square North
Vics, relegated from the Non-League's top tier only last season and
featuring old boy Mark
Cadwallader.
An action-packed game
with a fair bit of niggle as both sides got stuck in from the
start. Airbus
took an early lead after Phil Palethorpe had made a great one-on-one
stop, Carl Owen
heading a Cooky cross home off the post.
Matty Woodward then gave away
a penalty for the equaliser. They were lucky not to give another one
away just after as Paley upended another attacker with a trade
mark rash challenge.
They were caught out just before half
time, though, an attack down their right found them wanting for speed
& the resultant low cross wasn't cut out, leading to a simple
tap in.
That was it for the
scoring but Airbus looked composed and organised, not overawed by Vics'
air of superiority; it was a shame their patience & hard work
wasn't rewarded with a deserved equaliser but everyone seemed
pretty pleased with things afterwards.
