Bangor City 1-0 Airbus UK Broughton 21 Mar 09
THE Wingmakers’ hopes
of revenge were wrecked by a glorious Christian Seargeant free kick on
Saturday.
Craig Harrison’s men
made the trip to Farrar Road for the Welsh Premier League clash
determined to avenge last month’s Welsh Cup quarter-final hammering at
the hands of the Citizens.
And, although they more
than matched their high-flying hosts for long periods, their lack of
killer touch cost them dear.
Before Gareth Sudlow
and Mark Cadwallader had openings for the visitors, the decisive moment
came in the 30th minute after Matty Woodward was adjudged to have
committed a foul outside of the box.
And former Gap
Connah’s Quay midfielder Seargeant did not need asking twice as he
flighted a superb 25-yard effort into the roof of the net.
Chances were few and
far between after the winner, although Airbus did most of the pressing
and came close when Seargeant headed a Cadwallader shot off the line.
But Bangor hung on and
would have doubled their advantage had Kevin Lloyd’s 20-yarder not
been clawed away by Chris Doran.
