Ryan departs as four new signings land

AIRBUS UK Broughton have announced that Darren Ryan has left the Airfield to return as Manager of his Previous Club Newtown, with the announcement that Chairman Mike Jones along with Management Team Andy Cale and Lee Williams having left Latham Park it seemed inevitable that Ryan would be courted by a number of Directors from the Mid Wales outfit.

Speaking about Ryan`s departure Airbus Chairman Paul McKinlay said “Of Course we are disappointed but wish Darren well back at Newtown and I would like to  thank him for his short spell at the Airfield”. “We will look our options for the upcoming season as a result of Darren`s new appointment”.

Meanwhile the Wingmakers are pleased to announce that Director of Football Craig Harrison has been busy since the end of the season talking to his current crop of players with regard to renegotiating contracts as well as discussing deals with potential new signings, Harrison has already got Niki Bulmer, Ian Sheridan, John Leah and Eddie Hope contracted for next season and news is that they have been joined by Gavin Cadwallader, Rhys Nash, Mark Allen, Paul McManus and Harrison is hopeful Matty Woodward, Danny Desormeaux and Ryan Edwards will all commit themselves to the Club over the next few days. Harrison is still in talks with Phil Clarke and Andy Moran. Harrison stated “ I am really pleased to have the majority of players agreeing to remain with the Club as we look to improve again next season, keeping this bunch of players together whilst adding additional quality and quantity will ensure we have competition for places throughout the squad”.

New Players agreeing to join the Wingmakers are- Mike Hayes from Bala Town who will join on a 1 year contract, with the former Gap Connahs Quay Striker being joined by Craig Whitfield from The New Saints who has penned a 2 year deal, also joining will be combative Full Back / Midfielder Glenn Rule who will join from Stalybridge Celtic in the Blue Square North, Rule is an Ex Chester City player with Football League Experience and will be on a 3 year contract. Also joining will be Left Sided Full Back / Midfielder Rees Darlington who returns to the Airfield after an absence of 4 years or so, Darlington was part of Gareth Owens Squad when aged 17 and has spent the last 2 seasons with Buckley Town and Rhyl respectively in the Huws Grays Alliance and joins on a 1 year contract .

Director Of Football Harrison was delighted with his new quartet “I am delighted to bring 2 more strikers to the club as it was a problem position last season with injuries to Carlo( Carl Owen) and Andy (Andy Moran), now we have 4 with Mike and Craig being very good additions, Mike has caused us problems every time he has played against us and Craig has had a very good grounding at TNS and we are hoping to get the best out of them both with our style of Football.

Glenn Rule is another great addition with experience as a pro footballer playing at a good standard, the great thing with Glen he can play a number of positions which will be invaluable to us next season , Rees Darlington is one of the best left footed players in Welsh Pyramid and can comfortably make the step back to the Welsh Premier having developed since his last spell at the Airfield, From  January last season we only had one a left footed player in first team squad and that needed to be addressed, the great thing about our new signings is that they are all under 23 years of age which is great for the future. Hopefully we will get the rest of last season`s Squad sorted out over the coming days and with a couple more additions we should be ready have another good season. ”

Airbus UK Broughton Chairman Paul McKinlay added “Despite Darren's unscheduled departure we will continue with our prep for the new season. The new signings will add to the strength of our squad, and we hope the remaining players from last season will commit themselves to another season at the Airfield in the coming days.

Harrison is continuing to speak to a number of other players about joining the Airfield Outfit before Pre Season begins Mid June.
