A FIRST pre-season friendly came a week too early for Airbus, with only three of the seven players signed so far available due to holiday commitments.
John Davies, Jake Hulley, Bailey Jackson and second half substitute Steve Tomassen were the only recognisable faces to feature alongside a mix of Under-19s and trialists as the Wingmakers went down to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Whitchurch Alport.
Luke Walley scored twice for the visitors in the first half, but the hosts pulled a goal back from the penalty spot on the hour via a trialist with the visitors having a man sent-off.
But a suicidal backpass 10 minutes later gifted an opening for Walley to complete his hat-trick, rounding the keeper before planting the ball into an empty net.
Airbus also finished the game with 10-men and manager Andrew Thomas waits to welcome back his missing players and hopefully announce several new signings next week.
