WITH the domestic campaign nearing its conclusion, Andy Preece is already planning for the Wingmakers' second European campaign.

The Airbus director of football says he is happy to have a head-start as his side comfortably secured runners-up spot in the Welsh Premier League with five games left to play.

"We are looking at some different systems and different ways of going about games," Preece told the Flintshire Chronicle.

"We've also got a chance to look at who will be here, we've identified the types of players we want to bring in and I'll be hoping to speak to some targets."

Preece knows his own players could be transfer targets for other clubs after their 'phenomenal' season.

Last summer, Tom Field and Ryan Wade attracted interest while Lee Owens and Mike Pearson turned down moves to full-timers and champions-elect The New Saints.

But Preece is hoping that he will be able to add quality to his squad rather than lose any and thinks the lure for his players to move back to the English non-league pyramid is maybe not as strong as it was.

"Apart from the top teams in the Conference North and the full-time teams, I honestly think this is the best place to be because you've got Europe to aim for," Preece added.

"The lads really enjoy it and they maybe wouldn't go back now unless it was for a big opportunity.

"We don't want any of them to go and hopefully they don't want to go.

"We've got the best players in the league - even the team at the top wants them."

The Wingmakers are without a game this weekend and the Hollingsworth Group Stadium will stage the Welsh Cup semi-final between Bala Town and TNS.
