DIRECTOR of football Andy Preece says the shackles are off as he targets a tilt at the Welsh Premier title.

Preece described captain Ian Kearney's winning goal at Carmarthen Town last Saturday as "the most important of our season" and believes the second-placed Wingmakers are now in with a chance of winning a first major trophy.

Airbus are now three points behind table-toppers TNS but 13 ahead of Rhyl with a game in hand.

Preece now wants four wins from the upcoming run of four consecutive home games, starting-off with Newtown's visit to the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Saturday (2.30pm).

"Barring a miracle we'll finish second, it's going to take a freak set of results to stop us" Preece told the Flintshire Chronicle.

"We've probably got to win every game to have a chance of winning the league, but it we can do that I think we will win it."

Preece knows that 12 points from 12 could set-up a winner-takes-all showdown with the reigning champions in Oswestry on April 12.

But he insists there is no pressure on the Wingmakers now they are within sight of their initial goal for the season, European qualification.

"It's important we are positive, draws are no good to us now and we've got nothing to lose," Preece added.

"We are in a great position, so we can have a right good go at it, but we know how hard it is going to be. It's a massive ask.

"TNS should be well ahead of us, they should be running away with it, but they've got some tough games left and I don't think they'll win them all."
